When I started the Midlife Renewal Project, I thought I was creating something to encourage other women.
I wanted to share what I was learning about health after 40, building better habits, losing weight, getting stronger, and creating a life I was excited about again.
What I didn’t expect was that the person this blog would change the most…was me.
Because something interesting happens when you start sharing your journey with other people.
You begin holding yourself accountable.
It’s Hard to “Practice What You Preach”
Have you ever given someone really good advice that you weren’t actually following yourself?
I think we’ve all done it.
It’s much easier to tell someone else to drink more water, exercise consistently, or stop wasting time scrolling than it is to do those things ourselves.
But when I sit down to write a blog post, I constantly find myself asking:
“Am I actually doing this?”
“Do I really believe what I’m writing?”
“Is this something I’m willing to practice in my own life?”
Those questions have changed me.
Not because I suddenly became perfect.
But because I became more intentional.
My Blog Became My Accountability Partner
For years, I wanted to improve different areas of my life.
I wanted to exercise consistently.
I wanted to eat healthier.
I wanted to spend less time on my phone.
I wanted to become stronger, healthier, and more disciplined.
But wanting those things and living them are two different things.
Now, every time I write about one of those topics, I’m reminded that I’m on this journey too.
If I write about taking evening walks…
I want to be taking evening walks.
If I write about eating more protein…
I want to be eating more protein.
If I encourage women to keep showing up for themselves…
I need to keep showing up too.
Oddly enough, that doesn’t make me feel pressured.
It makes me feel motivated.
I’m Not Trying to Be an Expert
One thing that’s important to me is that this blog isn’t about pretending I have everything figured out.
I don’t.
I’m learning.
I’m experimenting.
Some things work.
Some things don’t.
And I’ll always try to be honest about both.
I’m not interested in becoming another person on the internet who acts like she has the perfect morning routine, the perfect body, or the perfect life.
I’m much more interested in becoming a woman who keeps growing.
That’s what this project is really about.
That’s Why I Created My Own Journals and Workbooks
People sometimes ask if I really use the journals, workbooks, and printables I create.
The answer is yes.
In fact, I make them because they’re exactly what I want to use myself.
I don’t create products just to have something to sell. I create tools that help me stay intentional, reflect on my progress, and keep moving toward the woman I want to become.
If they don’t help me, I don’t think they’ll help anyone else.
That’s one of the reasons I created my 90-Day Midlife Renewal Journal.
I wanted one place where I could check in with myself each day, celebrate small wins, reflect on what’s working, and stay focused on becoming healthier in every area of my life—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
I recently ordered a printed copy for myself, and I’m excited to start filling it out every single day.
Because this isn’t just something I created.
It’s something I’m committed to living.
You Don’t Need a Blog to Stay Accountable
Maybe you have no desire to start a blog.
That’s completely okay.
The lesson isn’t that everyone should become a blogger.
The lesson is that we all benefit from finding a way to document our journey.
Maybe that’s a journal.
Maybe it’s a notebook.
Maybe it’s taking one photo every day.
Maybe it’s checking off habits on a calendar.
Maybe it’s writing a few sentences before bed.
Whatever it is, don’t underestimate the power of seeing your own progress.
When you document your life, you begin paying closer attention to it.
The Woman I’m Becoming
One of the greatest surprises of this journey is that I’m no longer waiting to become a different person someday.
I’m becoming her little by little.
One walk.
One workout.
One healthy meal.
One journal page.
One blog post.
One small decision at a time.
And maybe that’s what renewal really is.
Not waking up one morning completely transformed.
But becoming a little more like the woman you want to be every single day.
If you’re looking for a simple place to begin your own renewal journey, I’d love for you to join me. My 90-Day Midlife Renewal Journal was designed to help you build consistent habits, reflect on your progress, and stay accountable—right alongside me. We’ll both be turning the pages together, one day at a time.
